Whoa! What a head-spinner! We've talked before about how Charlie Baker hasn't been clear when he plans to implement his tax cuts that will result in $2.5 billion in lost state revenue. It seems his answer changes from day to day. Sometimes in the same day!
For example, yesterday he said:
The Swampscott Republican, if elected, would immediately propose to reduce the sales tax to 5 percent from 6.25 percent and to cut the income tax to 5 percent from 5.3 percent. "There's no phasing it down," said Baker spokesman Rick Gorka. "It's straight to 5. We're filing the sales and income tax to five on day one." - Statehouse News Service, 10/4/2010
And then later in the day he said:
[Baker] Intends to gradually lower the state income, business and sales tax to 5 percent. He said he favors low taxes across the board, rather than targeted tax breaks to encourage business. - Attleboro Sun Chronicle, 10/5/2010, link
Even for Charlie Baker's World, this has got to se a world record for flip-flopping.
So Charlie -- which is it? Day One Tax Cuts like you promised Barbara Anderson? Or "down the road" like you told Scot Lehigh?
