Fact Checking in Charlie Baker's World

During the first debate of the gubernatorial campaign, the candidates talked about the corporate tax rate in the Commonwealth. Governor Patrick mentioned that his administration "cut corporate taxes".

In the real world, this is true. The corporate tax for 35,000 small businesses in Massachusetts has decreased under the Patrick - Murray Administration and at the same time closed tax loopholes for large corporate tax avoidance schemes.

In Charlie Baker's World, this is bad news. So after the debate they put out a fact check press release in an attempt to dispute this true: Unfortunately, the Boston Globe article they use to back up their claim says this:p

"In January 2010, the rate will be reduced from the current 9.5 percent, the fourth-highest in the country, to 8.75 percent. Annual reductions are scheduled to continue until the rate reaches 8 percent in 2012."

Maybe in Charlie Baker's World, if you ignore that part of the Globe article, their point would be correct. See, some facts don't count in Charlie Baker's World.
