It is time for another math lesson from inside Charlie Baker's World. Charlie has talked a lot about his 5-5-5 plan. No, Charlie isn't proposing free pizza, he is proposing a plan that would create a massive state deficit.
How bad would it be? Well, one of the 5s in Charlie's plan is the same thing that the same cut to the sales tax that Ballot Question 3 proposes. Recently the Mass Taxpayers Foundation examined Question 3 and found that it would create a $4.5 billion dollar shortfall and would send Massachusetts, "Over the cliff."
Using the transitive property, this tells us something very important about Charlie Baker's 5-5-5 deal. See if you can follow along.
The shortfall created by Baker's 5-5-5 plan is equal to the shortfall that Question 3 would create.
1. Question 3's shortfall would send Massachusetts "over the cliff"
2. Therefore, Baker's 5-5-5 plan would send Massachusetts over the cliff.
3. Luckily, math doesn't lie, not even in Charlie Baker's world.
